5 luxury cabo Resorts with swimmable beaches

Cabo San Lucas is a popular vacation spot located at the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula. For LA locals like us, Cabo is a quick direct flight, and can even be a weekend vacay (girls weekend, a bachelorette or bachelor party… there are endless reasons to go.) Cabo started as a small fishing village, and over the years evolved into one of the hottest spots in Mexico for celebs and VIPs, families, surfers, deep sea fishing, and snorkeling. So basically, Cabo does it all! While the swimming and snorkeling are certainly not to be missed, some of the beaches are actually very dangerous, with steep drop offs and very strong currents. Not to worry, the unsafe beaches are clearly marked with red flags, warning swimmers to stay away. On the flip side, some beaches in Cabo have lovely, calm, protected bays that are completely safe for swimming. I always like to know what’s what before I travel, and definitely before I book a resort vacation in a beach locale, so here is our quick guide to the luxe Cabo beach scene. All resorts are high-end luxury resorts that are also family friendly.

One&Only Palmilla

I love love Palmilla! This 5-star resort is located on Pelican Beach, which is known for gorgeous turquoise waters and pristine shoreline, making it the perfect spot to relax and recharge. Only 20 minutes from San Jose del Cabo and 17 quick miles from the airport, One&Only Palmilla is perfect for couples, families (kid’s club anyone?), or a traveler looking for an unforgettable vacation escape. And you may just find yourself sharing your patio with an iguana while you’re enjoying your morning latte.

montage los cabos

The Montage Los Cabos is a peaceful sanctuary perched upon the premier beachfront in Cabo. Spanning 39 acres along the waters of Santa Maria Bay, the resort features walk-in access to the finest swimming, snorkeling and diving in the region. It is truly gorgeous. The Montage has 122 expansive guest rooms, suites and casas (casas range in size from 3 bedrooms to 5 bedrooms), all designed to celebrate traditional indoor-outdoor living. The resort has multiple restaurants and bars with exquisite food plus a wellness center for spa treatments…. you’ll never want to check out.

Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos at costa palmas

This 5-star resort is one of the most exclusive destinations in all of Mexico and is located on Cabo’s East Cape, just 45 minutes from Los Cabos International Airport and about an hour from San José del Cabo. This one of a kind tropical hideaway has something for everyone… Five dining options, six pools, a top children’s program and teen center, The Oasis Spa, and 18 hole “Costa Palmas Golf Club”, and 2 miles of swimmable beach. And Four Seasons impeccable service of course. Do not miss, 10/10 would recommend.

Chileno Bay Resort & Residences

A short drive from downtown Cabo San Lucas, Chileno Bay is another excellent choice for those looking for a place to stay with swimmable beaches. Chileno Bay Resort is like the younger, hipper, more modern sister property to the Auberge’s Esperanza (which alas is not swimmable but fantastic). This family-friendly resort is perched on the sands of Chileno Bay, a renowned spot for snorkeling. If you want to try the hippest cocktail in Cabo, hit up the bar at COMAL, hang and eat delish house made corn nuts while you watch them make your fabulous “Baja Bird.”

Note: Part of the bay is a publicly-accessible beach next to the property, but resort guests have access to an exclusive area that is roped off.

Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort

This popular family friendly property is steps away from the Sea of Cortez in the exclusive Los Cabos corridor. Hilton Los Cabos offers lush, rich surroundings, anticipatory service, and the perfect blend of relaxation and rejuvenation. With expansive views from oceanfront rooms and suites, some featuring private plunge pools, this is a place for guests to discover authentic Mexico, where elevated dining and wellness options are all flavored with local cultural experiences.
